Current Project
In 2005, CACDA founding members recognized that plans for the community, which were thoughtfully prepared through a lot of hard work, often sat on the shelf. There was limited ability to seek funding and implement projects. Potential opportunities were available and ideas were plentiful but as a small community, we lacked an organizational structure to bring big ideas to reality. We needed a way to go from good to great!
CACDA founders envisioned a collaborative organization that includes a variety of stakeholders, sets priorities, seeks funding and implements projects. That vision is now a reality.
This year alone, CACDA has brought over $2.1 million in grant funding to our community. This is very significant because small communities like ours usually lack the capacity to pursue major funding opportunities.
Eradicate Frogbit
From Caz Lake
CACDA recently secured a grant and will partner with the Town of Cazenovia, Cazenovia College, the local boy scout troop, and community volunteers to eradicate a highly invasive weed, European frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae), from Cazenovia Lake. Contact us to find out how you can participate!
Drinking Water
Projects
CACDA secured significant funding for two drink- ing water projects that will begin in 2018. Village water will be extended east on Route 20 to the Trush Business Park which is currently serviced by underperforming wells. In addition, enhancements will be made at a town water district to improve water quality.
CACDA is assisting the Town and Village of Cazenovia in exploring the potential for government consolidation. Earlier this year we secured a multiphase grant from NYS to evaluate the options and determine the fiscal impact. The goal is to provide the same or greater level of services at a lower cost to taxpayers.
