The Art Park was founded by Dorothy and Robert Riester. They designed and built their home on the property in 1960. The Dorothy Riester House and Studio, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, is now available for tours upon appointment. The Riesters established the Art Park as a non-profit organization in 1991, when you arrive at the Art Park you can immediately feel their creative presence, as well as passion they shared while building the Art Park into what it is today. A prolific artist, many of Dorothy’s sculptures can be found around the Vista Trail, a short .25 mile gravel trail that encircles the hilltop.

There are many different events going on year-long at the Art Park including indoor gallery exhibitions, artist-in-residency opportunities, artist-led workshops, and educational tours. In the winter, bring your skis, snowshoes, and sleds and take advantage of the Art Park’s four miles of trails and steep hillsides.

The Art Park is an escape the bustle of nearby cities and the perfect place to reflect and interact with art and nature; it is a place where artists and non-artists alike, come together and enjoy the rural, agricultural landscape of Madison County, New York.
