Tucked along Albany Street in the heart of downtown Cazenovia, Cazenovia Artisans is much more than a gallery—it’s a vibrant community of artists, makers, and dreamers who have built something extraordinary together. Located at 39 Albany Street, this member-owned and operated cooperative gallery has been a cornerstone of the local arts scene for over 25 years, offering visitors a place where creativity thrives and connection comes naturally.

A Cooperative Built by Artists, for Artists

Cazenovia Artisans is a true cooperative—each member plays a role in running the business. From marketing and bookkeeping to sales and event planning, the artists themselves handle every aspect of the gallery’s operations. This shared ownership creates a deep sense of pride and collaboration. “People are curious,” members say. “We like to explain that the members own and operate the gallery. It is a true cooperative and it is by working together that we have been successful.”

The gallery showcases fine art and craft in a wide variety of mediums, all created right here in Central New York. Each piece is juried for quality, ensuring that everything on display meets the gallery’s exceptionally high standards. From paintings and photography to ceramics, textiles, jewelry, glass, and woodwork, the collection represents the best of regional artistry.

A Living Gallery Experience

When you step inside Cazenovia Artisans, you’ll always find one of the artists behind the desk—ready to chat, answer questions, or share the stories behind the work. That personal connection is part of what makes this gallery so special. Shoppers often have the opportunity to meet the creator of the piece they’re admiring, and artists are happy to arrange special orders or commissions upon request.

In addition to its core membership, the gallery also runs a Guest Artist Program, welcoming non-member artists to exhibit their work for a month at a time. This rotating showcase keeps the gallery fresh and dynamic, while supporting a wider network of talented craftspeople across the region.

25 Years of Art and Community

The story of Cazenovia Artisans began more than two decades ago, when a small group of local artists dreamed of a dedicated space to sell their work. With the help of local developer Bob Hood, they transformed what was once an alleyway into a bustling gallery that continues to thrive today. Their success is built on a foundation of creativity, cooperation, and a shared love of art.

“Working together, brainstorming, and facing roadblocks as a group is very satisfying,” members reflect. “We tend to create our art in isolation, and being part of Cazenovia Artisans gives us the opportunity to socialize with each other and with our community.”

A Destination for Art Lovers

Cazenovia is a true destination town, drawing visitors from around the world. The local arts community is a major part of that appeal—and Cazenovia Artisans is proud to be at the center of it. The gallery continues to collaborate with organizations like Caz Life, which works to promote community events and local businesses, helping to strengthen the village’s creative and economic vitality.

As the cooperative looks to the future, its goals remain clear: increase traffic to the gallery, reach more visitors across Central New York, grow awareness of its online shop, and continue to welcome talented new members into the fold.
