Celebrating Creativity in Cazenovia: Get to Know CazArts
Cazenovia has long been a community that appreciates creativity, culture, and the arts. From local artists and musicians to talented craftspeople and creative entrepreneurs, artistic expression is woven into the character of our community. Helping nurture, celebrate, and expand those opportunities is CazArts, a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to making the arts an integral part of life in Cazenovia.
Whether you're an artist, an art enthusiast, a local business owner, or simply someone looking for new ways to connect with the community, CazArts offers something worth discovering.
What Is CazArts?
Established in 2019 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, CazArts was created in response to a community need for greater support, visibility, and opportunities for the arts in the Cazenovia area.
CazArts is an alliance of artists, arts organizations, and community members working together to promote creativity and enrich the cultural landscape of the region. Its mission extends beyond traditional fine arts, embracing a broad definition of creativity that includes music, artisanal crafts, gardening, cooking, and other activities that bring people together through imagination and expression.
At its heart, CazArts believes that creativity makes communities stronger. The arts contribute to economic vitality, enhance the beauty of our surroundings, encourage social connections, inspire personal growth, and create opportunities for intellectual engagement.
Bringing Art and Creativity to the Community
Through a variety of programs, events, and partnerships, CazArts works to make artistic experiences accessible to residents and visitors alike.
Some of its signature initiatives include:
Classes and Workshops: Opportunities for children, adults, and seniors to explore their creativity, develop new skills, and discover artistic interests.
Art Exhibitions: Ongoing and rotating exhibits at the Cazenovia Public Library Gallery, showcasing the work of talented local and regional artists.
Cazenovia Art Trail: An opportunity to celebrate local artists, explore creative spaces, and experience the artistic talent that makes this area special.
Jazz-n-Caz: Bringing music and live jazz experiences to the community.
Support for Local Artists and Cultural Organizations: Providing resources, encouragement, advocacy, and opportunities for collaboration throughout the arts community.
CazArts also believes that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in creative programming. To help make that possible, the organization offers scholarships for children and seniors to attend its classes.
A Collaborative Approach to Community Enrichment
One of the things that makes CazArts special is its commitment to collaboration. Rather than working in isolation, the organization partners with local businesses, nonprofits, artists, and other community organizations to create meaningful cultural experiences.
CazArts recognizes that a thriving arts community benefits everyone. Cultural events and artistic programming attract visitors, encourage people to explore local shops and restaurants, and help establish Cazenovia as a destination for arts and culture.
The local business community has been an important part of this effort, with many businesses demonstrating a genuine appreciation for the role that arts and culture play in creating a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
By bringing people and organizations together, CazArts helps create opportunities that extend beyond the arts themselves, strengthening the connections that make Cazenovia such a special community.
