Get ready for a timeless celebration of equestrian tradition, community spirit, and historic elegance. The annual Lorenzo Driving Competition (LDC) returns to the breathtaking grounds of the Lorenzo State Historic Site, bringing with it a full weekend of horse-and-carriage competitions, family fun, and cultural enrichment.


🎩 Friday, July 18 – “Hats Off to Lorenzo” Evening Celebration


🌟NEW this year🌟: The Syracuse Orchestra String Quartet will set the tone with live background music during the Friday night Welcome Party, happening 5:00–7:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Lorenzo.


This lively public event officially opens the weekend and celebrates the competitors and sponsors who make the LDC possible. Here’s what to expect:

  • 🎶 Live Music: Enjoy the soothing sounds of the Syracuse Orchestra String Quartet, performing light and familiar selections as twilight falls.

  • 🍻 $10 Signature Glass: Purchase a LDC-branded glass and enjoy unlimited:

    • Beer from Meier’s Creek Brewing Company

    • Wine from Cazenovia Wine & Liquor

    • Non-alcoholic beverages

  • 🎠 Carriage Rides: Complimentary carriage rides around the Lorenzo grounds provided by Lamplit Farms.

  • 🏛️ Mansion Tours: The Lorenzo Mansion will be open for free tours throughout the event.

  • 👒 Hat Contest: Wear your finest hat! Compete in the Hats Off to Lorenzo Contest, judged by Cody Fedele, manager at Meier’s Creek Brewing Co. Winners take home Meier’s Creek merch!

🌟 Meanwhile, an evening competition will take place in the Main Ring, giving guests an early taste of the equestrian excellence to come.

The weekend continues with formal driving classes, exhibitions, and family-friendly attractions. Highlights include:

  • Horse & Carriage Driving Classes

  • Junior Driver Showcases

  • Kids’ Activities, Demonstrations & Exhibits

  • Self-guided Garden & Carriage Collection Tours

With Cazenovia Lake as a backdrop and the Lorenzo grounds in full summer bloom, it’s the perfect setting for a weekend outdoors.
