Nestled in the heart of the Village of Cazenovia, 20 East is more than just a shop—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and connection. Located at 85 Albany Street, 20 East offers a thoughtfully curated collection of locally sourced food, flowers, and gifts, each with a story waiting to be shared.

From Farmers’ Market Roots to Main Street Staple

The story of 20 East began back in 2009 at the Cazenovia Farmers’ Market, where owner McKenzie first sold handmade wooden cutting boards and bowls through Cazenovia Cut Block. Inspired by the incredible talent of the local makers she met at the market, McKenzie realized there needed to be a space where those artisans could sell their goods year-round. What started as a simple idea has since grown organically into a beloved shop that continues to evolve while staying true to its roots.

A Shop Full of Stories

When you step inside 20 East, you’ll quickly notice that it’s not your typical retail store. Every product has a purpose, and every shelf holds a story. McKenzie knows the makers, their families, and the “why” behind what they create. Whether it’s a handcrafted piece, locally grown flowers, or a specialty food item, each product represents passion and authenticity.

“I absolutely love all of the people I meet and matching them with the perfect gift,” McKenzie shares. “I also love finding new items to fill the shop.”

A Community That Supports Each Other

Cazenovia is known for its vibrant spirit, and 20 East reflects that energy. McKenzie emphasizes how much collaboration, shared knowledge, and community events mean to her as a small business owner. The shop isn’t just a place to buy something beautiful—it’s a hub where local makers are celebrated, neighbors support neighbors, and the town’s creative pulse can be felt.

Looking Ahead

The mission of 20 East is simple: to provide customers with items they will love for themselves or to share with others. McKenzie’s goal for the future is to expand the shop’s online presence so more people across the country can experience the artistry of Cazenovia’s makers.

“I didn’t plan this for myself,” she admits. With a master’s degree in elementary and special education, her career path could have looked very different. But the connections she made with farmers and artisans at the market led to something special—something she now feels honored to carry forward.
