Owner Nick Borsellino spent over 20 years working in the construction industry before deciding it was time for a change. During the height of COVID, Nick started offering to do dump runs for people—simply picking up items from their driveways when they couldn’t get rid of them themselves.

It turned out to be a much-needed service. What began as a simple favor quickly grew into a full-time business. “My whole business has morphed out of necessity and chance over the last few years,” Nick explains. “None of it was anything I preemptively chose to do—but that’s exactly my style.”

The Ups and Downs of Seasonal Work

Like many service-based businesses, Borsellino Home Services is deeply tied to the seasons. Summer brings a flood of calls for junk removal, hauling, and deliveries, often adding up to 60–80 hour work weeks. Winter, on the other hand, slows down considerably.

Because of the nature of the work, Nick often handles projects alone, occasionally pulling in family and friends when an extra set of hands is needed. Despite the long hours, the reward is worth it. “Helping people—that’s what I enjoy most. My customers thank me all the time and tell me how needed my services are.”

Rooted in Cazenovia

Although he moved away briefly in his early 20s, Nick eventually returned to Cazenovia and settled down. “It’s a great small town. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else now,” he says. That hometown pride shows in his work and his commitment to serving neighbors with honesty and reliability.

One common request he hears is for moving services, but that’s one thing he doesn’t offer. “Even though I have the truck and trailers, I’m not set up for traditional moving—nor do I really want to do that,” Nick explains with a laugh.

Looking Ahead

While the business has grown naturally over the past few years, Nick has his sights set on the future. His long-term goal is to secure land with a shop space to allow for expansion. “I’ve been looking for 10 years and haven’t found the right spot yet, but I’ll keep looking,” he says. Until then, he remains focused on providing dependable service to the community that raised him.
