Spring into Action & Become a Volunteer Driver!

In the spring, we see small seeds grow and flourish into something much greater. This reminds us that small actions can have great and beautiful impacts on those around us. It's time to spring into action and become a volunteer driver with GOMadison Volunteer Transportation (GMVT) program.
The GMVT program is one of many offered by the Madison County Rural Health Council, and connects 60+, non-Medicaid, Madison County residents to volunteer drivers for transportation to essential medical appointments, at no cost to them. Appointments can be for primary care, specialists, lab work, vision, dental, or physical therapy; even pharmacies for prescriptions and vaccinations. 1 in 5 older adults experience barriers getting to healthcare appointments, and the GMVT program is directly addressing the problem. In 2025, GOMadison Volunteer Drivers drove over 20,220 miles bringing 88 Madison County seniors to 456 medical appointments. That’s 3 round-trips from Cazenovia, NY to Cancún, Mexico!
Help Drive Seniors Toward Better Health! For as little as 1 ride a month, volunteers can make a POWERFUL impact in our community. Here's what riders with GMVT have said about the program:
“I am so thankful for this program! My worries are gone, I don't have to ask my son to take time off from work. My drivers have all been the best I could ask for.”
“It relieves so much stress on me and my family & friends. I know I will get to my appointment, and be driven by someone kind and friendly.”
"All of my drivers have been polite, courteous, and interesting to talk with. I've even shared laughs with some. They are a Godsend and a blessing."
